A police officer was Monday September 11 night shot and killed while three sustained serious bullet wounds in an ambush by gunmen in Degogicha area, Merti, Isiolo County. The attackers are believed to be narcotics or human trafficking gang operating on the Isiolo-Moyale route. Police said a group of 11 officers were patrolling Matarba, Nanu and Cutline areas on board Land Cruiser and on reaching Degogicha area they came under gun attack. 53 percent of Kenyans feel the country is heading in the wrong direction, a poll conducted by Infotrak shows. The survey was conducted between August 21 to 23 and on September 10, 2023. The poll indicates that at least five in every 10 Kenyans think the country is headed in the wrong direction. Only 30 percent of Kenyans think the country is headed in the right direction while 13 percent think it is neither headed in the right nor wrong direction. The new third-generation IDs, dubbed the Maisha Card, would be distributed by the government for a cost of Sh1 billion. Three employees at the British High Commission were Friday arrested for trespassing at the National Intelligence Service (NIS) headquarters in Nairobi. Stephen Mbugua Kinuthia, Christopher Kinuthia, and Fredrick Muruka were arrested while taking pictures and videos of NIS headquarters along Thika Road. An Ethiopian man was sentenced to 31 years in prison for trafficking 12 fellow Ethiopians immigrants in Nairobi. Yibekal Gatachew alias Adinan Mohamed Galano was sentenced by a Kahawa West Law Court following his arrest on November 3, 2021 in Ngumo estate, Nairobi. During the arrest, 12 Ethiopian nationals were found emaciated and chained in a room as they waited to be repatriated to a different country while headed for South Africa. YouTuber Andrew Kibe’s popular YouTube channel with over 474,000 subscribers was Sunday terminated. All 3,000 videos shared on the controversial content creator’s channel were unavailable. “The YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated,” a statement by YouTube reads in parts. At least four prominent businessmen close to President William Ruto have won a single-sourced multi-billion tender to supply police choppers, Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), and drones. They were found in a room at Teachers’ Plaza as they waited to be moved to a different location, police said.
