An anti corruption court Wednesday ordered the anti graft agency to release any devices or documents that are not relevant to a case in which they are probing against former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya. The Ethics and Anti Corruption commission had obtained search warrants and seized various items belonging to Oparanya that are linked to alleged improper acquisition of property. Former Mama Lucy Hospital social worker who was accused of child trafficking at the hospital two years ago after a BBC exposé was Wednesday found guilty. Police are investigating an incident in which the body of a man was found on the roadside in Karen area, Nairobi. The man was identified as Joseph Karanja, 31. The body had a white tape wrapped on the body at the time it was discovered Monday, police said. According to police, there is a likelihood the man was killed elsewhere and the body dumped along Southern Bypass where it was discovered. The High Court in Nairobi Tuesday set aside orders suspending a decision by the government to import 125,000 metric tonnes of cooking oil. The order suspending the importation of the cooking fat followed a suit by the Law Society of Kenya. Justice John Chigiti dismissed the matter on the grounds that the evidence obtained by the LSK to support its case was done illegally. LSK had produced a letter by the Principal Secretary Treasury dated January 30,  which approved the duty-free importation of cooking fat. The East African Community heads of state Tuesday resolved to extend the mandate of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) to stay in the Democratic Republic of Congo for three months. This follows a meeting between Presidents William Ruto (Kenya), Evariste Nayishimiye (Burundi), Salva Kiir (South Sudan), Paul Kagame (Rwanda) and Samia Suluhu (Tanzania). Tragedy struck a village in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County after a man seeking to join the Kenya Defence Forces collapsed and died. He collapsed on Tuesday during the ongoing KDF recruitment exercise and was rushed to hospital where he died. Police said Francis Wachira Kabuga collapsed after finishing the final lap while entering the gate of the stadium where first aid was administered before he was rushed to the Kianyaga sub-county hospital. Details have emerged on the two people who were arrested in Umoja, Nairobi, and found with two kilos of cocaine valued at Sh12 million. The two were arrested last week by anti-narcotics detectives in an operation that had been prompted by international signals. A Kenyan national Selina Ndinda Ndonyo and her Nigerian boyfriend Michael Adedeji Adeyemi were arrested and two kilos of cocaine recovered from them. At least 53 members of the security forces were killed in an attack by suspected jihadists in northern Burkina Faso, the army said on Tuesday. A 32-year-old man was Tuesday electrocuted in an incident in Kiplabotwo area in Bomet East Sub-County. Also killed was a dog which is believed to have tried to safe the deceased man. The man and the best friend died after coming into contact with a live electric wire that had fallen into his compound in the village.
