The Trade Union Registrar Elizabeth Gichehia has reaffirmed Wilson Sossion as Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General. This comes days after Sossion was reinstated by the Labour Relations Court, after a long battle with a section of Knut officials that saw him ousted. A General Service Unit (GSU) officer has found himself in hot soup after he allegedly slapped an M-Pesa operator following a disagreement over a transaction. Seven villagers have been killed in Banissa Constituency Mandera County following a retaliation attack from Ethiopian group. The incident is said to have taken place on Tuesday morning where the attackers were armed with machetes and guns. Local authorities in the region confirmed that seven bodies had already been found, with more bodies suspected to be in the bushes. Nairobi County Government has issued a seven day ultimatum for collection of 97 dead bodies lying at the Mbagathi District Hospital Mortuary. In reference to a post published on a local daily, the county will seek the authorities to have the dead bodies disposed if not collected within seven days. The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers are struggling to put out a raging fire in the Aberdare Forest, which has so far consumed over 70 hectares of bamboo.
