Hungary’s new prime minister has said the government will amend the constitution to remove President Tamás Sulyok after he refused to stand down. Péter Magyar pledged to remove Sulyok and other key figures appointed by his predecessor Viktor Orbán after his landslide election win in April. Three new vaccines are being developed to tackle the rare species of Ebola that has already killed nearly 250 people. The International Aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), which is working on one vaccine, said the outbreak was threatening to be the worst ever. The University of Oxford and the pharma company Moderna are also researching vaccines against the Bundibugyo species. Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations Embakasi, mounted a swift and coordinated operation following the reported theft of a firearm belonging to a licensed firearm holder. The operation culminated in the arrest of the prime suspect, a 42-year-old man identified as John Bosco Munyao, within Nairobi’s Central Business District. Upon arrest, the suspect led detectives to his residence in Kangemi, where they recovered the stolen Glock pistol, concealed inside a suitcase among clothes. Police in Nigeria have warned against reprisals targeting South African nationals or businesses following a wave of anti-migrant protests in South Africa. The police urged Nigerians not to take the law into their own hands, after “reported attacks on Nigerians in South Africa”. No such attacks have been reported but the warning followed a meeting of security and intelligence chiefs. UK money transfer company Wise is being investigated over suspicions criminals used its accounts for money laundering, Belgian prosecutors have told French media. Wise said it was working with the Brussels prosecutor’s office but that “no specific findings have been shared with us to date”. Belgian prosecutors told press agency AFP the investigation, which is focused on Wise’s European operations and not its UK business, was “nearing its conclusion”. The US has said it struck Iranian military sites over the weekend while Tehran said it responded by targeting an American base, marking the third known escalations in a week around the Strait of Hormuz. The UK will not have to pay Rwanda millions of pounds over the collapsed asylum agreement that was cancelled by Keir Starmer shortly after he took office, an international court has ruled. A retired senior Nigerian military officer and his wife have been kidnapped by armed men in north-west Nigeria, the army has confirmed.
