Nairobi residents who earn monthly wages of between ksh30,000 to Ksh49,000 spend most of their time on social media, a new report has revealed. The survey report released by the United States International University Africa (USIU – Africa) revealed that the group categorised as low-income earners spend an average of three hours per day on social media. Pampers is set to launch a new smart diaper line, called Lumi, with the capability of tracking baby urination patterns and sending insights right into a parent’s smartphone. According to Pampers, Lumi has activity sensors that automatically tracks baby’s activities like wet diapers and sleep. Police in Kitui have launched investigations into a Monday morning fire incident that razed down County’s Finance Economic and Planning offices. The early morning fire was confirmed by the County’s Finance Executive Mary Nguli. According to Ms Nguli, the cause of the 2am inferno is yet to be established. The incident comes slightly over a year since another fire gutted down County Sports, Culture and Tourism offices. Four officers of the Kenya Forestry Services (KFS) have been interdicted over links to illegal logging in Mbooni Forest, Makueni County. According to KFS, the service took the move after investigations revealed that the four officers had failed to stop illegal cutting of trees in South Mbooni Forest Block (Kivuva). The four are Ecosystem Conservator, County Enforcement Commander, Forest Station Manager and a Corporal. The move comes days after the service launched a crackdown on illegal logging in the forest. Frederick Mungai, an Uber driver accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in Nyali, Mombasa, has been freed on Ksh50,000 cash bail. Mr Mungai was arraigned in Shanzu Law Courts on Wednesday. However, he did not take a plea after the court faulted the wording on the charge sheet. “According to law it is not “indecent act” since the mouth is not a genital organ. Police in Migori are holding two men who were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly posing as a police officer to defraud members of the public. The two, identified as Anthony Obare Okemwa and Godfrey Odhiambo, are accused of posing as Senior Superintendent police officers (SSP), taking advantage of unsuspecting locals. One of them, Mr Okemwa, was cornered as he extorted money from a nurse working at Migori County Hospital. The suspicion led to the arrest of the other suspect, Mr Odhiambo.
