A journalist with the Nation Media Group has reportedly lost Sh3 million in a fake car deal with a local businessman. James Onyango, a Daily Nation sub-editor based Nairobi, is said to have lost the money to hotelier Emmanuel Mulobi Musebe. Reports indicate Musebe fraudulently obtained the money in exchange for a Range Rover registration number KBU 220Q, but failed to produce the car as agreed. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has withdrawn from the Wajir West Constituency by-election. The move follows a humbling defeat in the recent Ugenya and Embakasi South mini-polls. In Ugenya, David Ochieng of the Movement of Democracy and Growth party (MDG), floored ODM’s Chris Karan. Ochieng garnered 18,730 over Karan’s 14,507 to clinch Ugenya constituency parliamentary seat. In Embakasi South Constituency, ODM candidate Irshad Sumra conceded a humiliating defeat hours before the final tally was done. A man has killed a Moi University medical student at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret. Ivy Wangechi, a sixth-year medicine student, was taking her industrial attachment at the facility. According to eyewitness account, the unidentified man, hit the student – who was heading to her hostel – with a blunt object on the head severally. Reports indicate the man had hidden the weapons in a gunny bag, to avoid suspicion when he accessed the hospital. Migori Governor Okoth Obado is free to tour neighboring Homa Bay county. This is following the High Court ruling on Tuesday that removed the restriction cap limiting his movement. Last year, the court imposed the restrictions as part of Obado’s bail terms following charges linking him to the murder of Sharon Otieno. Delivering the ruling, Justice Jessie Lessit said the purpose of the bail condition has been served and is no longer necessary. The governor had appealed for the review of his bail terms. Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday intercepted 500Kgs of narcotics at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The DCI reports that the narcotic packed in 52 bags-concealed tea packets, was identified during the screening process at the airport. One suspect has been arrested in connection to the incident. Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has appointed Jackson Kioko as the new Chief Executive Officer at Kenya Health Professionals Oversight Authority. Dr Kioko has been serving as Director of Medical Services (DMS) since 2016 when he was appointed in acting capacity. Police on Monday shot dead three people suspected of hijacking a United Nations (UN) official at Mukuyuni area in Machakos County. According to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the three were in a group of five, two others managed to escape unhurt. Neno Evangelism pastor James Ng’ng’a has moved to court to stop his prosecution over Sh3.6 million rent arrears. Ng’ang’a owes the money to a landlord in Karen. The controversial pastor, argues that the criminal investigations against him are based on a purely commercial transaction which are supposed to be treated as a civil suit. Rwandan President Paul Kagame has pardoned 367 women and girls jailed for abortion related offences. A body of a 7-year-old boy was on Sunday found dumped in a forest in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County. The body of the boy was discovered at around 4pm by a group of children herding animals in the forest.
