Former Kenya’s Shujaa team coach Benjamin Ayimba is back in active coaching as the Kenya Harlequin assistant coach.

Ben was on the touchline alongside the head coach Charles Cardovillis as the Kenya Cup heavyweights edged out Mwamba RFC 29-26 Sunday.

According to Raga House, he is part of a two-year project introduced by Head Coach Charles Cardovillis who returned to Quins after a season at Kabras Sugar. Their first game was a 29-26 win over Mwamba.

“He (Ayimba) is a no-nonsense coach, similar to myself,” said Cardovillis. “Similar coaching philosophies. A man I’ve always wanted to work with on the pitch.”

“We have a two-year project for now. Building a strong technical bench and playing unit.”

Ayimba guided Kenya to a Singapore 7s win after 140 tournaments as well reaching Cup semis in the 2013 Sevens World Cup. World Cup performance in 2009 saw Ayimba awarded the Order of the Grand Warrior by then President Mwai Kibaki.
