A Mombasa-bound Kenya Airways plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday morning shortly after take-off.

Reports indicate the KQ604 plane had just taken off from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) when it encountered a bird strike.

The bird strike reportedly caused an engine glitch forcing the pilot to return back to the airport.

No casualties were reported during the incident.

The plane which took off at 10:11am was expected to land in Mombasa at 10:56am.
