    Boy, 4 drowns in hotel swimming pool in Juja, Kiambu County

    A four-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool while on a swimming session at a hotel in Juja, Kiambu County. The boy was a PP1 pupil at Great Favour Preparatory School when the incident happened on Friday afternoon. He was among a group of pupils who had gone to a local hotel for swimming sessions when he drowned. It emerged he ventured into an adult swimming pool where he drowned. His body was discovered in the deep end of the adult swimming pool amid investigations into how he ventured therein. The locals blocked police from removing the body as they demanded explanations from the hotel management how the incident happened. It took the police to use force and teargas canisters to disperse the crowd to be able to remove the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said they are investigating the incident. In Gambogi area, Vihiga County, a man was found on the roadside after he had drowned in a pool of water. The incident happened after the man who was believed to have been drunk fell into a ditch full of water following heavy rains that were experienced in the area, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy. And police in Holo, Kisumu County are investigating an incident where a fisherman was found dead in his house. Police believe Dan Otieno was killed in his house. The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said. The body of the man was discovered by fellow fishermen who became jittery after he was late in reporting for planned fishing sessions in the area. The body was found in his net on the floor in his house with no visible injuries and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the February 6 incident.
