A 12-year-old boy was found dead after being electrocuted at the school compound in Kothidha, Homa Bay County.

Police said the grade four pupil at Koketch Primary and Comprehensive School was found lying unresponsive under a transformer that is within the school.

It is not clear how the child was electrocuted in the October 23 incident, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere in the Bulapesa area, Isiolo County, police are investigating an incident where an infant was found dead in a house.

The five-month-old infant was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital, police said.

According to the police, the mother of the infant had gone shopping at a local shop and left the boy on bed sleeping. She came back minutes later and found him unresponsive. The police said they were looking for the father of the child for grilling and further processing.

The remains were later taken for autopsy and burial on October 24, 2025.

In Bikeke area, Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, a two and half-year-old boy drowned in an uncovered pit that had water.

Police said the boy had strayed to a neighbour’s compound before he slipped into the pit drowning.

The mother of the child started to search for the boy before she stumbled on the body in the hole.

The body was retrieved to the mortuary pending an investigation and autopsy.

In Bungoma’s Kamukuywa area, police exhumed the remains of an infant who had been buried in a meter deep grave.

Police said they want to establish how the infant died. This followed a complaint the infant had died and buried in secrecy.

The matter is under probe and an autopsy is planned for October 27 as part of the probe into the incident.
