Police in Kakamega County are investigating the murder of a man allegedly injured in a family land dispute in Kabras East Sub-County.

Police said the incident was reported on March 18, 2026, at 3:30, and preliminary investigations indicate that Solomon Masoni Sasala, a 51-year-old man, sustained serious injuries inflicted by relatives during an altercation over land use.

He was rushed to Malava Sub County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers visited the scene in Kovasali Village and later moved the body, which showed a swollen internal injury at the back of the head, to Kakamega Orthopedic Mortuary pending an autopsy.

Two suspects were detained pending further investigations for murder.

Authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding the land dispute and the events leading to the fatal assault.

And detectives are investigating the discovery of a partly decomposed female body in a sugarcane farm in Kabras West Sub-County.

Police said they were alerted and they found the partly decomposed body of an unknown African female adult, believed to be around 30 years old.

Authorities noted that the lower limbs of the body had been mauled.

The body was removed to Kakamega General Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits identification and a post-mortem examination.

The case has been recorded as a pending inquest, with detectives from DCI Kakamega North leading investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.

And police in Marsabit County are investigating a fatal incident in which a man was killed in Turbi-Bubisa Sub-County.

Preliminary reports indicate that one Boru Katelo, was allegedly killed by suspected gunmen a few kilometres from the Awaye borehole.

Meanwhile, a suspect surrendered to police following a murder incident in Arujo area, Homa Bay County.

This follows the murder of Kniterose Adhiambo, 45 on March 7, 2026.

Police said the suspect was wanted before he surrendered and was detained pending arraignment.
