Braxton Berrios is officially heading back to New York.

The veteran wide receiver, who previously dated influencer Alix Earle, has signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants after a short stint with the Houston Texans, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

“Giants are signing veteran WR Braxton Berrios to a one-year deal, per his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey,” Schefter reported on X on Monday, June 1.

The move comes as the Giants aggressively reshape their wide receiver room ahead of the new NFL season, adding depth, experience, and special teams versatility.

Why the Giants Signed Braxton Berrios

Berrios, 30, is not just a receiver — he is widely valued for his elite special teams production.

He earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2021 with the New York Jets after leading the league in kick return impact and scoring his only career return touchdown that season. That same year, he posted career highs with 46 receptions for 431 yards, proving he can contribute both as a slot receiver and return specialist.

Last season with the Houston Texans, Berrios played limited snaps, recording six receptions for 37 yards while also handling punt and kickoff return duties in four appearances.

For the Giants, his role is expected to be primarily as a depth receiver and special teams weapon — particularly following injuries that have weakened their roster.

Giants Wide Receiver Situation Driving the Move

New York’s receiving corps has been hit by setbacks.

Wideout and return specialist Gunner Olszewski suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, while star receiver Malik Nabers is recovering from a torn ACL and remains uncertain for the start of the season.

Reports suggest Nabers’ recovery timeline remains unclear, with insiders cautioning that he may miss early-season action.

These concerns have pushed the Giants to bring in experienced players who can stabilize the position group.

Giants Also Add Odell Beckham Jr. in Reunion Move

Berrios’ signing comes on the same day the Giants made headlines by bringing back Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham, the franchise’s former first-round pick in 2014, returns after a decorated early career in New York that included Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and three straight Pro Bowl selections.

    Add Odell Beckham Jr.

Although injuries and team changes affected his later career, Beckham remains one of the most recognizable names in the NFL and played a role in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl run following the 2021 season.

His return adds star power and experience to a reshaped receiver room.

Berrios will now compete for playing time alongside a crowded group that includes Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, and other young receivers as the Giants evaluate their depth chart heading into training camp.

His ability to contribute on special teams may ultimately be the deciding factor in securing a consistent role.
