A businessman lost Sh900,000 to suspected thieves who broke into his car in Narok Town.
The victim told police he had traveled from Nairobi to Narok, where he had a construction project, while carrying the money in a brown envelope. He had withdrawn the money from a bank in Nairobi.
The incident happened on Friday afternoon.
On reaching Narok Town, he parked his Probox car in Muthurwa area and walked to the site.
He came back about 30 minutes later and found his car had been broken into and the envelope which had the cash and a mobile phone were missing.
Police were informed and visited the scene as part of the investigations into the incident. Police suspect the thieves had prior information on the movement of the cash. A hunt for the gang continued on Saturday.
Police visited premises near the site to review security cameras to see if they could identify the suspects behind the incident.
Elsewhere in Ganjoni, Mombasa County, a woman lost Sh600,000 and jewelry in a house breaking incident. The woman told police she had left for work and left her house locked.
She came back and found the house broken into and the Sh600,000 in cash with jewelry valued at Sh500,000 missing.
Police visited the scene and announced investigations were ongoing to establish what happened.
