An M-Pesa agent was shot and wounded in a robbery incident in Kisumu Town.

The incident happened on Thursday night after three gunmen approached the victim at Jubilee Market, police said.

The woman was shot in the left leg and robbed of unknown amount of money, two Mpesa mobile phones and her bag.

The gang escaped on a waiting motorcycle.

Police responded to the scene and found the suspects had escaped. The gang had been waiting for her outside the shop before they struck.

Police said on Friday they were pursuing the gang and hoped to get them for justice.

This is the latest such incident to happen in the area amid efforts by authorities to solve the trend.

Officials said a team had been set up to pursue the cases so far reported.

Meanwhile, police in Spring Valley are pursuing a gang that raided a private residence and terrorized a family before robbing them of their cash and jewelry.

The gang of four was armed with a pistol and crude weapons when they struck at Saunders Close and tied the guards and dogs on duty.

The incident happened on Thursday April 2 at night after a power blackout in the area.

They attacked the first house and robbed the family of 150 UK Pounds and raided a second one where they grabbed USD3,800, Sh150,000 and assorted jewelry. Police said the gang escaped soon after the robbery.

The guards with their two dogs were found tied in a room and rescued hours later. They were interrogated as part of the probe into the attack.

A hunt on the suspects was ongoing, police said on Friday after visiting the scene.

Police suspect the gang had prior information on the presence of the cash and that they were behind the said power blackout before the attack happened.

Such attacks happen with the help of an insider, police investigations show.
