Chandarana Foodplus employees have complained of discrimination within the work place. They say that Africans have been reduced to shop attendants and cashiers while foreigners are brought in to take up the management jobs.
The employees say that Africans have been stereotyped as thieves and are not entrusted with management responsibilities despite their qualifications.
The workers at the Chandarana Food plus say that the foreigners that are brought into the supermarket are not only unqualified but lack decorum towards African workers and customers.
“The foreigners, majority of whom are Indians use derogatory language while addressing both workers and customers. They act as if their race is superior,” an attendant who sought anonymity said.

The intolerance emancipates even in remuneration, the unqualified foreigners are usually paid more that the Africans yet they do very little compared to the local workers.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i had earlier said that foreigners should not be assigned jobs that the locals can easily take up.
The Constitution under Article 27 states that no Kenyan should be discriminated based on their race, equal opportunities should be accorded to qualified people.
