      Draw the Hopscotch Grid

The first step is creating the playing area.

    • Use chalk to draw the grid on the ground
    • Create numbered squares in a pattern from 1 to 8 or 10
    • Include single and double boxes for variation
    • Make sure the lines are clear and visible

The grid serves as the path players will follow.

    1. Choose a Marker

Each player needs a small object to use in the game.

    • Use a stone, bottle cap, or small beanbag
    • Ensure the marker is easy to throw and pick up
    • Each player can have their own marker

The marker is used to claim squares during play.

    1. Toss the Marker

The game begins by throwing the marker.

    • Stand behind the starting line
    • Toss the marker into square number 1
    • Make sure it lands inside the square without touching lines
    • If it misses, the turn passes to the next player

A successful toss allows the player to begin hopping.

    1. Hop Through the Squares

Players move through the grid by hopping.

    • Hop on one foot in single squares
    • Use both feet for double squares
    • Skip the square where the marker is placed
    • Maintain balance while moving forward

Careful movement helps avoid losing your turn.

    1. Pick Up the Marker

After reaching the end, return to collect the marker.

    • Turn around at the last square
    • Hop back through the grid
    • Stop before the marked square
    • Pick up the marker while balancing

Picking up the marker successfully completes the round.

    1. Continue the Game

The game continues with increasing difficulty.

    • Move on to the next number with each turn
    • Repeat the process for each square
    • If a mistake is made, the turn passes to the next player
    • The first player to complete all squares wins

Progressing through all squares determines the winner.
