Governor Sonko had asked for a constitutional amendment to extend the transition period after the death of a governor who dies while still serving his term.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said that he would soon move an amendment on the county government act to allow the governor to appoint his deputy as it would be difficult for the governor to work alone.
