Education CS Professor Magoha has transferred some staff at the Ministry in his quest to root out lazy staffers. He told the lazy workers to prepare to pack their bags if they were not willing to work.

He said that he would ensure that the Competency-based Curriculum, free learning programmes, increased enrollment and high integrity exams were delivered.

“I am asking lazy staff to either shape up or start packing up,” said the CS, who was accompanied by Chief Administrative Secretary Colleta Suda, Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang and TSC boss Nancy Macharia.

The Education CS started by moving some of the regional directors. Dr Mary Gaturu was moved from the regional office in Rift valley and is now the acting director of quality assurance, Mr Pius Mutisya to field services,Dr Sylvester Mulambe, who was a deputy director, is now the director of policy.Ms Nereah Olick, the western regional director of education, has been appointed deputy director, primary education.

On his debut visit to the Ministry, CS Professor George Magoha was disappointed after finding almost 100 staff at the ministry absent from their offices.

He said that the lazy employees at the ministry would be sent home if they continued to be late.

“People have to sit up and work otherwise I will remove them. We will get others who can work. They can go to a Ministry where they sleep. The Education Ministry consumes all the money… the President will see whether we have worked properly. It will have an impact on his government. Why should we be thieves of the Kenyan government,” CS Magoha stated.

Professor Magoha said that he would ensure that the huge resources that the government had put in Education would be utilized well .
