Dealfish Regional Manager for East Africa Quits for InMobi

It seems that this blog post really irked some wannabes when we did this blog post. A subject of this news item who Tech Mtaa contacted to talk to was very angry that he could not stomach even a greeting from me. I am ok with that. I am not in the business of looking for popularity from those who would rather hear no evil nor see any. But that is not the story for today. One of the said bloggers has been managing Dealfish regionally( Kenya, Uganda and the impending launch in Tanzania).

I was on Wednesday alerted to the news that Dealfish Regional Manager for East Africa, Moses Kemibaro, is now leaving the MIH company and pursuing another assignment at InMobi. The move has been confirmed by an insider at MIH who would love to remain anonymous.

Moses joined Dealfish in September 2010, setting up the East African operations in Uganda and Kenya with Tanzania pending but very much in pipe.

InMobi seems to be desperate to contain the onslaught of Admob in the country and continent at large. When Admob released its figures in January, InMobi responded with this blog post trying to prove to the potential advertisers that it is the best option for mobile adverts.

MIH Internet recently closed its Kalahari sites serving Kenya and Nigeria in a move seen as meant to consolidate operations. The group runs the directory focused site, Mocality, and the classifieds site, Dealfish, in Kenya. None of the two entities has broken-even with their revenue generation strategy in doubt.

The mother company, Naspers, has not managed to crack the Kenyan market with the Media 24 owned East Africa Magazines exiting in a huff 3 years ago. The media publishing company of Naspers, News 24, recently opened a Kenyan focused news site. The group is also expected to introduce two other products in the market but with the same strategy, few believe they will ever crack the market.
