Team Kenya Robotics has departed for Incheon, Republic of Korea, where it will represent the country at the 2026 FIRST Global Challenge.

Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo on Sunday flagged off the team ahead of the international robotics competition, which will be held from October 7 to October 10, 2026.

Kabogo said the young innovators were carrying Kenya’s national pride and the aspirations of a generation embracing science, technology, engineering and innovation.

“These brilliant young Kenyans carry with them our national pride and the aspirations of a generation embracing science, technology, engineering and innovation,” Kabogo said.

The 2026 competition will be held under the theme “Igniting Innovation” and will bring together young innovators from around the world to develop technological solutions focused on wildfire prevention, mitigation and recovery.

Team Kenya will enter the competition with an impressive record after winning the Silver Medal and finishing as first runners-up at the 2025 FIRST Global Challenge held in Panama City.

Kabogo said the government remained committed to supporting young innovators and expanding opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

“As Government, we remain committed to nurturing our young innovators, expanding opportunities in STEM and equipping our youth with the skills required to compete and lead in the global digital economy,” he said.

The CS wished the team success as it prepares to compete against teams from different countries on the global stage.

“I wished Team Kenya every success as they raise our flag on the global stage. Go make Kenya proud!

    🇰🇪” Kabogo said.
