Detectives are investigating an incident where the body of a woman was found decomposed in a house after a murder in the Kacherop area, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The body was discovered on September 25, 2025.
Locals had complained of a foul smell from the house before they called the police, who broke in and found the body with physical injuries lying on the bed.
There were blood stains on the floor of the house. The woman was later identified as Jepkoech Longole, 32. She lived with a man who was later arrested as a suspect in the murder.
The motive of the murder was not immediately known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. It is not clear when the woman died.
Elsewhere, a woman was arrested after the body of a 67-year-old man was found outside her house in Gaitu village, Imenti Central, Meru County.
The body of Paul Gichira was found lying outside the house with an injury in the forehead.
The cause of the death was not immediately established. The woman told police she did not know how the man died.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations, police said of the September 25, 2025 incident.
And there was drama at Misikhu police station in Bungoma when a mob attacked it as they bayed for the blood of a suspect.
Police said they had rescued a suspect from an angry mob and took him to the station when a mob surged there.
This prompted a confrontation that left three cops injured. The mob pelted stones at the station damaging window panes, a G3 rifle and two police vehicles.
Police responded by firing to the air as they requested for reinforcement.
At least 12 suspects were arrested at the scene in the drama. The reinforcement managed to disperse the mob, police said.
