    Devid Striesow is a prominent German actor born on October 1, 1973, in Bergen auf Rügen, East Germany.

    He has established himself as one of Germany’s leading character actors, known for his versatile performances in both film and television.

    Striesow has appeared in numerous acclaimed productions, ranging from historical dramas to contemporary thrillers, and has also worked as a voice actor and audiobook narrator.

    Devid comes from a family with at least one sibling, his brother Sven Striesow.

    In his personal life, Striesow has five children across different relationships.

    He has a son, Ludwig Simon (born 1996), from a previous relationship with actress Maria Simon, who has followed in his father’s footsteps as an actor.

    Since December 2018, he has been married to his manager Ines Ganzberger, with whom he has a son born in 2016.

    Career

    Striesow began gaining attention in the early 2000s with roles in notable German films such as What to Do in Case of Fire? (2001).

    He delivered a memorable performance as the reluctant dog handler Tornow in the Oscar-nominated Downfall (2004), which depicted the final days of Adolf Hitler.

    His international breakthrough came with the role of Sturmbannführer Herzog in Stefan Ruzowitzky’s The Counterfeiters (2007), a film that won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

    He has taken on leading roles as well, including in the psychological thriller Yella (2007).

    Over the years, Striesow has balanced film and television work, appearing in series like Bella Block and more recent high-profile projects such as the 2022 Netflix adaptation of All Quiet on the Western Front.

    His career also extends to audiobook narration, showcasing his distinctive voice.

    Accolades

    Striesow has received multiple prestigious awards throughout his career, reflecting his consistent excellence in acting.

    These honors include the German Film Prize, the Grimme Prize, the Bavarian TV Award (which he won in 2017 for Best Actor in a television movie), and the German Actors’ Prize.
