The High Court has ordered that the Mandera driver who picked the two Cuban doctors before they were abducted on Friday, remain in remand for 15 days.

In a ruling issued on Monday, the court noted that Isaac Elbow, will remain in detention for 15 more days.

This, the court mentioned, was to allow the police to complete investigation.

Dr Assel Herera Correa (a general physician) and Dr Landy Rodriguez (a surgeon) were abducted by armed assailants who ambushed and blocked the vehicle ferrying them to work in Mandera town.

It is reported that one of the police officers guarding the medics was killed instantly while the other escaped with injuries.

Additionally, it is alleged that elders of the Somali community who are highly regarded have traveled to Somalia in a bid to resolve dangerous and sometimes complex issues.
