    Ethiopian Airline Headed For Nairobi Crashes

    Several people are feared dead after an Ethiopian Airline Boeing 737 crashed this morning.

    In a tweet, the office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia confirmed the crash, without giving much details.

    “The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express it’s deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning,” read the tweet.

    The plane #ET302 is said to have dropped from the radar six minutes after departure from Addis Ababa.

    The plane is said to be four months old since it was delivered to the Airline.

    According to a statement from the Airline, the accident happened around Bishoftu (Debre Zeit) at around 8.44 local time when it lost contact.

    “Ethiopia Airlines regrets to confirm that its flight ET 302/10 March in schedule service from Addis Ababa to Nairobi was involved in an accident today around Bishoftu (Debre Zeit) . The aircraft B-737-800 Max with registration number ET-AVJ took off at 08.38am local time from Addis Ababa, Bole International Airport and lost contact at 08.44am,” read the statement in part.

    It is believed that 149 passengers and 8 crew members were on board. No casualties or survivors have been confirmed so far.
