Former Nairobi town clerk John Gakuo passed on after being taken ill at the Mbagathi Hospital. The former town clerk was serving a 3 year jail term for the Sh283m cemetery scam and abuse of office.
His body has since been moved to the city mortuary.
Mr Gakuo was a celebrated town clerk and was being considered as the most likely candidate to replace Polycarp Igathe after he resigned early this year.
