The former UN Secretary General has passed on in Switzerland on Saturday morning after a short illness. He was 80 years old .
Kofi Annan was said to be a pivotal factor in the peace deal between former prime minister Raila Odinga and Former president Mwai Kibaki after the 2007 post election violence. He was part of the National peace accord that gave birth to a power sharing deal between the two leaders.The Kofi Annan foundation confirmed his death in this post:

He served as the UN Secretary General from January 1997 to December of 2006.
