    Glenn is one of four children born to William Taliaferro Close, a prominent surgeon, and Bettine Moore Close.

    She has two sisters, Tina Close and Jessie Close, and a brother, Alexander “Sandy” Close.

    Tina, the eldest sibling, has largely stayed out of the public eye, living a private life with little documented information about her pursuits.

    Jessie Close, the youngest sister, has been more visible, particularly through her advocacy for mental health awareness.

    Jessie has openly discussed her struggles with bipolar disorder, detailed in her memoir Resilience: Two Sisters and a Story of Mental Illness, co-written with Glenn.

    Her breakout role came in 1982 with The World According to Garp, earning her an Academy Award nomination.

    She gained widespread recognition for her chilling portrayal of Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction (1987), a role that cemented her as a Hollywood heavyweight.

    Close’s filmography is diverse, ranging from the scheming Marquise de Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons (1988) to the eccentric Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians (1996).

    Her stage work includes acclaimed performances in Sunset Boulevard, for which she won a Tony Award, and Death and the Maiden.

    On television, she starred in the legal drama Damages, showcasing her ability to command complex roles.

    Close’s career is marked by her willingness to take on challenging, often morally ambiguous characters, earning her respect as a transformative actress.

    Accolades

    Close has been nominated for eight Academy Awards, though she has yet to win, making her one of the most nominated actors without an Oscar.
