The government has issued a strong warning after a disturbing video of a 22-year-old Kenyan woman, Marion Naipei, circulated online.

In a statement shared on Sunday, January 18, 2026, Gender, Culture and Children Services Cabinet Secretary Hanna Wendot said the ministry is working with other agencies to investigate the matter and take action.

The video shows the young woman in a vulnerable situation at a Nairobi entertainment spot.

“I have taken note of a disturbing video circulating in the public domain involving the recording and sharing of images of a woman in a vulnerable condition,” Wendot said.

She said the dignity, privacy and bodily autonomy of every person are protected by the Constitution and must be respected.

“The dignity, privacy and bodily autonomy of every person are inviolable. Any conduct that undermines these rights is unacceptable,” she added.

The ministry said the way the video was recorded and shared raises serious concerns about consent and responsible behaviour, especially in places where people may be vulnerable.

It warned that sharing such content online can cause great harm to the person involved and society at large.

The government urged Kenyans to stop sharing the video and avoid making comments that could further harm the woman.

“We urge the public to exercise restraint and responsibility by refraining from further circulation of such material,” the statement said.

Wendot said the ministry is engaging relevant agencies and that appropriate action will be taken in line with the law.

The government also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting human dignity and promoting a society based on respect, accountability and the rule of law, both online and offline.
