The government has released a list of counties that will host major national celebrations and key events in 2026.
In a circular dated April 14, 2026, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei informed senior government officials, including the Attorney General, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and heads of constitutional commissions, of the planned venues.
According to the schedule, this year’s Labour Day celebrations on May 1, 2026, will be held in Vihiga County.
Other national events will be hosted across different counties as follows:
- Madaraka Day on June 1, 2026 – Wajir County
- Ocean Conference (June 16–18, 2026) – Mombasa County and Kilifi County
- Katiba Day on August 27, 2026 – Nairobi County
- Maringira Day on October 10, 2026 – Trans-Nzoia County
- Mashujaa Day on October 20, 2026 – Elgeyo-Marakwet County
- Jamhuri Day on December 12, 2026 – Kiambu County
- Minorities Day on December 18, 2026 – Marsabit County
Koskei said the schedule is intended to support better planning and coordination of national events across the country.
“To facilitate coordination of themed engagements in the lead-up to the national days and other events, Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination, is hereby directed to liaise with relevant ministries and state departments,” the circular stated.
