There were chaos when suspected goons attempted to disrupt a church service at PCEA Kasarani East Parish, Nairobi ahead of the arrival of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Gachagua’s security fired gunshots to the air to disperse the group in the drama on Sunday morning.

Police were no where to be seen during the chaos amid claims they had intelligence on the planned chaos hence their absence.

Drama started when a group of about 50 forced their into the church saying they wanted money.

This was as Gachagua also arrived at the church for the service.

Gachagua’s security fought back pushing the group away from the church. It was then that gunshots were heard from the group as they clashed.

The security said they fired to the air to repel the charging goons who had attempted to storm past the church’s gate.

Some cars at the parking yard were damaged by stones that were pelted in the chaos.

At least one person was injured in the head by a flying stone.

He had his head dressed by an Elastoplast.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

There was no explanation as to why police were not present despite the fact that they had been informed of the same in time.

Gachagua arrived later amid tension and took his seat as the church service got underway.

This is the second such incident to happen at an event presided over by Gachagua.

He has in the past accused government officials of being behind the chaos.
