    Siblings

Haley has four siblings. As the youngest, she looks up to her older sister Brianne Tju, born on June 14, 1998, who paved the way in the acting world with roles in MTV’s Scream and Hulu’s Light as a Feather.

Brianne, also of Chinese and Indonesian descent, has been a mentor and frequent collaborator, with the sisters even attending red-carpet events together, such as the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival premiere of Scream.

The Tju family includes two other older sisters, Katelynn Tju and Lauren Tju, who maintain lower profiles away from the spotlight, contributing to a nurturing home environment.

    Career

Tju’s debut came in a Pizza Hut commercial, followed by a bit part on Disney’s Hannah Montana at age seven, igniting her on-screen journey.

Early guest appearances on shows like The Suite Life on Deck, where she portrayed a young London Tipton, Desperate Housewives, Jessie, Go On, and The Thundermans—in which she played the recurring antagonist Darcy Wong—honed her comedic timing and dramatic depth.

In 2013, Tju signed a talent deal with Nickelodeon after a standout showcase, leading to her first major voice role as the quirky alien Sqweep in Monsters vs. Aliens.

That same year, she landed a lead in the special The Massively Mixed-Up Middle School Mystery, showcasing her investigative prowess as one of three young detectives.

Her breakthrough arrived with the 2015 Nickelodeon series Bella and the Bulldogs, where she starred as Pepper Silverstein, the sassy cheerleader best friend to Brec Bassinger’s quarterback-turned-cheerleader Bella Dawson, earning her widespread recognition for her bubbly energy over two seasons.

Tju expanded into Disney Channel films like Den Brother, playing Tina, and voiced characters in animated hits such as Nu Hai in DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny.

Transitioning to voice work, she brought nuance to Stella Zhau in The Loud House and Karmi in Big Hero 6: The Series.

More recently, Tju’s portrayal of the ambitious and complex Marcy Wu in Disney’s Amphibia solidified her as a voice acting powerhouse, blending vulnerability with intensity.

She has also appeared in live-action projects like the Netflix series Trinkets and the Hallmark sequel Rufus 2, demonstrating her adaptability across genres.

    Accolades

Tju’s standout performance as Marcy Wu in Amphibia has been praised by critics for its emotional depth, contributing to the series’ acclaim, including multiple Annie Award nominations for outstanding achievement in animation.

Tju’s role in Bella and the Bulldogs aligned with the show’s success, which was highlighted at the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, where she attended as a celebrated cast member.

As part of ensemble casts, she shares in accolades such as the 2016 Teen Choice Award win for her sister Brianne’s Scream series in the “Best Cast” category.
