Hannah Storm was born Hannah Lynn Storen on June 13, 1962, in Oak Park, Illinois. She grew up in a family closely connected to professional sports. Her father, Mike Storen, served as commissioner of the American Basketball Association from 1973 to 1974 and later worked as an executive with several sports franchises, including the Indiana Pacers and the Atlanta Hawks.
Storm attended The Westminster Schools before enrolling at University of Notre Dame, where she graduated in 1983.
She adopted the professional name “Hannah Storm” while working as a disc jockey at a rock radio station in Corpus Christi, Texas, during the early 1980s.
