    Uhuru Standard

When the Sunday Standard of put up a page one birthday wish for President Uhuru, every media professional in the country was surprised with the kind of things happening at the Moi family owned media house. The weekly newspaper bent so low that all were amazed. It never happened even when Moi was the President.

Apparently Sunday Standard Managing Editor Enoch Wambua is an aspiring politician planning to contest in his home county Kitui, hosted Interior Cabinet secretary at a function in Kitui. At the Harambee at Kavindoni Secondary School, Joseph Ole Lenku brought the donations of President Uhuru and his communications boss Manoah Esipisu.

President Uhuru sent Ksh 500,000 while Manoah sent Ksh 250,000. Joseph Ole Lenku brought his personal donation of Ksh 200,000. He rode in a chopper to the function. The only politician present at the function was CORD minority leader in parliament, Francis Nyenze.

Attempts by journalists to report the event have been thwarted by Enoch Wambua who claims that the event was private. Wambua is eyeing the Kitui West parliamentary seat in the 2017 elections.

The move to openly praise President Uhuru on the front page of the Standard has surprised media stakeholders including journalists at KTN and Standard. The blatant hero worshiping at Standard is due to the prevailing belief that Uhuru and Ruto will rule the country for 20 years so the key managers are not worried about being held to account any time soon.

Enoch Wambua was among the senior managers and editors at the Standard who went to State House to solicit for adverts.

There are also reports that former President Moi and his son Gideon are offloading their stake at the group. It is not known who is buying the stake but reports from inside the group indicate that the buyers are very powerful individuals within the current government. We are snooping around. We will reveal them soon.
