After submitting your application to the University of South Africa (UNISA), the next important step is to track your progress. UNISA receives thousands of applications every year, so it’s essential to monitor your status to know whether your application has been received, processed, or accepted. Fortunately, UNISA provides an online system that makes checking your application status quick and simple.

Here’s how to check your UNISA application status.

    1. Visit the Official UNISA Website

Start by going to the official UNISA website at www.unisa.ac.za. This is the only legitimate platform for checking your application status. Avoid unofficial websites or links that may mislead you or request your personal information.

Once on the homepage, scroll to the Admissions section or look for a link titled “Application for Admission.” Click on it to access the application portal.

    1. Go to the Application Status Page

On the application page, look for the option labeled “Track Your Application Status” or “Application Status.” This will take you to the self-service portal where you can log in to view your status.

The link usually directs you to https://myadmin.unisa.ac.za, which is the UNISA student portal used for managing applications, registration, and student information.

    1. Log in to Your UNISA Student Account

You’ll need to log in using the credentials you created when you submitted your application.

    1. Enter your student number or application reference number.
    2. Type in your password or ID number.
    3. Click “Submit” or “Login.”

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can use the “Forgot Password” link to reset it by following the instructions sent to your registered email address.

    1. View Your Application Status

After logging in, you’ll be able to see your application details and current status. UNISA usually uses a few standard terms to indicate your progress, such as:

    • Application Received – Your application has been submitted successfully and is awaiting processing.
    • In Progress – Your application is currently being reviewed.
    • Provisional Acceptance – You’ve met the initial requirements and may receive an offer once all documents are verified.
    • Accepted/Admitted – Your application has been approved. You can now proceed to register for your course.
    • Unsuccessful – Your application was not accepted for the current intake.

Make sure to read any additional notes or instructions provided on the portal, as some applicants may be asked to submit further documents or confirm their choice of qualification.

    1. Check for Email or SMS Notifications

UNISA also communicates through email and SMS. If your application status changes, you may receive a notification. Keep checking the inbox and spam folder of the email address you used when applying.

It’s important to ensure that your contact details on the application are correct so you don’t miss any important updates.

    1. Contact the UNISA Admissions Office

If you experience difficulties logging in or if your status doesn’t update after several weeks, you can contact the UNISA Admissions Office for assistance.

    You can reach them through:

    • Email: study-info@unisa.ac.za
    • Phone: 0800 00 1870 (within South Africa)
    • Online Contact Form: Available on the UNISA website under “Contact Us.”

Be ready to provide your full name, ID number, and student or application number when requesting help.

    1. What to Do After Acceptance

Once your status shows that you’ve been accepted, the next step is to register for your course during the registration period. Log in to your UNISA student portal and follow the registration guidelines. You may also need to pay the minimum registration fee to confirm your place.
