Monitoring how much time you spend on your phone can help you manage your habits, reduce distractions, and maintain a healthier digital lifestyle. Samsung smartphones have built-in features that allow users to track screen time easily. Whether you want to see daily usage, app statistics, or how often you unlock your device, this guide explains how to check screen time on Samsung step by step.

    1. Open Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls

Most Samsung phones running Android 9 (Pie) or newer come with Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls preinstalled. This tool gives you detailed information about how much time you spend on your phone and in which apps.

    1. Unlock your phone and go to Settings.
    2. Scroll down and tap Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls.
    3. On the dashboard, you will see a graph or circle chart showing your total screen time for the day.

This section displays how many minutes or hours you have used your device, along with the most used apps. You can also check the number of notifications received and how often you have unlocked your phone.

    1. View Daily or Weekly Reports

Samsung allows you to check both daily and weekly screen time reports. This helps you track trends over time.

    1. Inside the Digital Wellbeing dashboard, tap the graph or Screen time section.
    2. Choose Day or Week at the top of the screen.
    3. You’ll now see a breakdown of how long each app was used and when your phone was active during the day.

This view makes it easy to identify which apps consume most of your time, such as social media, games, or messaging platforms.

    1. Check Screen Time Through Device Care

Another way to view screen time is by using the Device Care feature.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Tap Battery and device care or simply Device care, depending on your phone model.
    3. Select Battery.
    4. Scroll down to see a graph of your phone’s battery usage and screen-on time.

The screen-on time shows how long your display has been active since the last full charge. While this view doesn’t break down app usage, it’s a good indicator of overall phone activity.

    1. Use Samsung’s One UI Widget for Quick Access

If you want quick access to your screen time without opening settings every time, you can add a Digital Wellbeing widget to your home screen.

    1. Touch and hold an empty space on your home screen.
    2. Tap Widgets.
    3. Search for Digital Wellbeing.
    4. Choose the Screen time widget and place it on your home screen.

This widget updates automatically, showing your total usage for the day at a glance.

    1. Set Screen Time Limits and Focus Mode

If you notice that you spend too much time on your phone, you can manage it directly through the Digital Wellbeing app.

    • Tap App timers to set daily limits on specific apps.
    • Use Focus mode to pause distracting apps during study, work, or rest periods.
    • Enable Bedtime mode to dim your screen and mute notifications at night.
