Creating a collage on Instagram is a great way to showcase multiple photos in a single post or story. Instagram does not have a built-in collage feature for regular posts, but you can use Instagram Stories’ Layout tool or third-party apps to create a collage before uploading it. Here is how to make a collage on Instagram.

    1. Using Instagram’s Layout Feature in Stories

Instagram Stories has a built-in collage tool called Layout, allowing you to combine multiple images into a single story frame.

    • Open Instagram and tap the + icon to create a story
    • Select Story from the options
    • Tap the Layout tool (grid icon) on the left side of the screen
    • Choose a grid layout that fits the number of photos you want to use
    • Tap the camera icon to take photos or tap the gallery icon to select images from your phone
    • Arrange the photos in the chosen layout
    • Add stickers, text, or filters to enhance your collage
    • Tap Your Story to share it with followers

This method is quick and easy, but it only works for Instagram Stories, not feed posts.

    1. Using Instagram’s Sticker Feature for a Freestyle Collage

For a custom, creative collage, you can manually arrange multiple images in a story using the sticker tool.

    • Open Instagram Stories and add a background (a solid color or a photo)
    • Tap the Sticker icon at the top of the screen
    • Select the Photo Sticker option
    • Choose an image from your gallery and place it anywhere on the screen
    • Repeat the process to add more images
    • Resize and rotate images as needed to create a collage effect
    • Once satisfied, tap Your Story to share

This method offers more flexibility since you can place images anywhere without a grid.

    1. Using Third-Party Apps for Feed Collages

If you want to post a collage to your Instagram feed, you need to use a third-party app like:

    • Layout by Instagram – A free app designed for making collages
    • Canva – Offers customizable templates and design tools
    • PicsArt – Allows creative photo editing and collage-making
    • PhotoGrid – Provides various grid styles and customization options

To create a collage with these apps:

    • Download and install the app from the App Store or Google Play Store
    • Open the app and select the collage/grid option
    • Choose the photos you want to include in the collage
    • Adjust the layout, borders, and background as desired
    • Save the final collage to your phone
    • Open Instagram, tap +, and select the collage from your gallery to post

This method is best for Instagram feed posts and offers more design options.

    1. Using Instagram’s Carousel Feature as an Alternative

If you want to showcase multiple photos but prefer not to use a collage, Instagram’s carousel feature allows you to upload up to 10 images in a single post.

    • Tap the + button to create a post
    • Select multiple photos by tapping and holding one image
    • Choose up to 10 images and arrange them in order
    • Edit each photo individually or apply a single filter to all
    • Write a caption and tap Share

This option lets your followers swipe through multiple images instead of viewing them in a single frame.
