Tinder makes it easy to connect with people, but sometimes you may want to end a match. Maybe the conversation isn’t going well, or you’ve simply changed your mind. Unmatching is a quick way to stop communication, and it removes the chat from both your account and the other person’s. Here is how to unmatch on Tinder.
- Open the Tinder App
Launch the Tinder app on your phone and log in to your account. Go to the chat section where you can see your matches and conversations.
- Select the Match You Want to Remove
Scroll through your list of matches and tap on the one you want to unmatch. This will open the chat window with that person.
- Tap on the Profile Options
Inside the chat, look for the three-dot menu or shield icon in the corner. Tapping this will give you more options for managing the conversation and match.
- Choose “Unmatch”
From the menu, select the option that says “Unmatch” or “Unmatch and Report” if you also want to report the profile. Confirm your choice when prompted.
- Understand What Happens Next
Once you unmatch, the conversation will disappear from both accounts, and the other person will no longer be able to contact you. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Use Unmatch Responsibly
Unmatching is normal and part of online dating, so don’t feel guilty if you need to do it. However, use the feature respectfully and only report someone if they are violating Tinder’s rules.
