Kenyan rapper Noti Flow, real name Natalie Florence, has turned down a surprise marriage proposal from her ex-lover and fellow musician Colonel Mustapha during a live interview on YouTube.

The two artists, who once dated and also collaborated in music and acting projects, were appearing together in an interview on Monday, where they opened up about their troubled past relationship.

Noti Flow accused Mustapha of cheating on her, recalling an incident where he allegedly allowed another woman to sit in the front seat with him and call him “babe” during a lunch outing. She admitted that she was so angry at the time that she followed them in another car and ended up beating the woman.

Mustapha, on his part, said Noti Flow was physically abusive towards him during their relationship. She confirmed the claims, saying it was true, but explained she was young and reacted that way because of his cheating.

The rapper also revealed that after breaking up with Mustapha, she briefly dated a woman.

“I was experimenting, you know. I tried to become a lesbian because of him [Mustapha], because he made me give up on men. I thought if he could cheat, then no other man could be loyal,” she said.

However, she added that the relationship with the woman did not work out, and she eventually returned to dating men.

Noti Flow’s past relationships have also made headlines.

In 2022, her then-girlfriend Alami was seriously injured after allegedly attempting to take her own life. She was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital following the incident.

While still on the show, Mustapha abruptly opened his heart to Noti Flow and tried to propose to her with a ring in his hand.

The host asked her if she was currently dating, and she admitted, all of a sudden, Mustapher held her hand and said: “Ebu ngoja kwanza, Notiflow, before you go there Useme nini, leo nataka nikuambie kitu. Hiyo kitu sijui utaichukuliaje. But yani, umekua special to me since way back, and you still have a special place in my heart. Nakukubali sana kuliko madem wote nishawai date. Wewe ndo queen na niko tayari kupiga tattoo yako anytime any place anywhere.” Mustapha said.

He took a ring from his shirt, knelt, and asked her, “Will you marry me?” “No, no, no, it’s a prank, right?”

Noti Flow reacted. Mustapha said he was given the ring by his mother. He insisted, but Notiflow said, “I’m seeing someone.”

Mustapha regretted coming to the show because he knew he was going to propose to her, but things did not go the way he expected.

“I’m Sorry, I love you like a friend,” Noti Flow told him.

Mustapha insisted that they had something. He asked the host to help him.
