Jack has an older sister named Jessie Eichel, who played hockey and baseball in her youth and later worked as a special needs teacher, an experience that has inspired Jack’s involvement in charitable work with organizations like Best Buddies.

He also has a younger brother named Alex.

    Career

Eichel played one dominant season at Boston University in 2014-15, where he led the nation with 71 points (26 goals and 45 assists) in 40 games and earned numerous accolades before declaring for the NHL Draft.

Selected second overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, he made an immediate impact, earning a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team in his debut season.

During his time with the Sabres from 2015 to 2021, Eichel established himself as the face of the franchise, serving as team captain and posting strong offensive numbers despite the team’s struggles.

He recorded multiple 70-plus point seasons and developed a reputation for overtime heroics.

In 2021, after a well-publicized trade request amid contract and health discussions, Eichel was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights.

With the Golden Knights, Eichel has thrived in a winning environment.

He reached new heights in the 2022-23 season, leading the playoffs in points during his first postseason appearance and helping Vegas win the Stanley Cup.

He has continued to produce at an elite level, achieving a career-high 94 points in the 2024-25 season.

    Accolades

In college, Eichel won the 2015 Hobey Baker Award as the top NCAA men’s ice hockey player, becoming only the second freshman to do so.

He was also named Hockey East Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and a First Team All-American.

In the NHL, he has been selected to multiple All-Star Games and earned a place on the All-Rookie Team.

His ultimate team achievement came in 2023 when he won the Stanley Cup with the Golden Knights, leading all players in playoff points with 26 (including a league-high 20 assists) in his postseason debut.

Eichel has also represented the United States internationally, contributing to various junior and senior national teams.
