Detectives are investigating the macabre murder of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) female officer in Nyahera village, Suna East, Migori county.

The body of Second Lieutenant Cynthia Awour Mboya was found in her matrimonial home in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The deceased was aged 28 and was attached to Gilgil Barracks.

She was on pass leave at the time of her death.

Police said they are investigating murder in the incident. She was alone at the time her body was found.

Police officers visited the house and found the officer’s lifeless body lying on the floor beside her bed in a pool of blood.

Preliminary observations revealed that the deceased had deep cut wounds and visible signs of strangulation on the neck, pointing to a violent struggle before her death.

Her husband told police he arrived home from Migori Town at around 1:00 a.m. and found all doors to the house wide open.

Upon entering the bedroom, he allegedly discovered his wife lying motionless on the floor.

Police further noted that two mobile phones, a Samsung and a Tecno Camon 12 Pro, belonging to the deceased were missing from the house.

The motive behind the killing remains unknown and the body was later moved to Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Elsewhere in Kasarani area, Nairobi near United States International University, a cashier at a mini mart was stabbed and killed in a robbery incident.

Joseph Osundo, 32 was on duty at the Blessed Mini Matt when he was confronted by a gang in a robbery mission.

He was stabbed in the shoulders and ribs in the robbery following a confrontation.

He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

Police said the gang escaped after stealing unknown amount of money. The hunt on the gang is ongoing, police said after the Christmas Day robbery and murder.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
