The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has warned motorists to expect traffic disruption on the A3 Thika–Kilimambogo Road near Delmonte Farms in Gatuanyaga.
In a statement, KeNHA said the disruption will run from Friday, November 14, 2025, to Monday, December 1, 2025, to allow for rehabilitation of the road.
The authority explained that the works will affect both Thika-bound and Kilimambogo-bound lanes, and motorists will be required to use diversion routes provided by the agency.
“This is to allow for carriageway rehabilitation works scheduled from Friday, November 14, 2025, to Monday, December 1, 2025,” KeNHA said.
“Both Kilimambogo-bound traffic and Thika-bound traffic will be diverted as indicated on the traffic diversion plan.”
The A3 Road is an important link to the busy Thika Superhighway. It starts in Thika Town and continues east through Kilimambogo toward Matuu, Mwingi, Garissa, and Liboi at the Somalia border.
Motorists using the A3 to connect to Nairobi through the Thika Superhighway are expected to experience the most delays.
According to KeNHA’s diversion plan, vehicles coming from Kilimambogo toward Thika will be diverted a few meters before reaching Kilimambogo town.
Those traveling from Thika toward Kilimambogo will be diverted near Gatuanyaga Market.
The diversion will temporarily turn the affected section into a two-way single carriageway, instead of the usual dual carriage.
KeNHA has urged road users to be cautious, follow the diversion signs, and obey police officers and traffic marshals managing the area.
“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the agency said.
