Traders and other encroachers along the Nanyuki-Naibor Turnoff-Doldol (B101) Road have been given 30 days to vacate the affected road reserve.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) said the enforcement exercise was carried out ahead of planned improvement works along the road.

In a statement, KeNHA said its teams conducted an exercise along the designated road reserve to identify and address illegal encroachments.

The exercise involved marking unauthorised structures and issuing formal notices to affected occupants.

Those affected were directed to remove their structures and vacate the road reserve within 30 days.

KeNHA said the exercise is intended to clear the way for the planned improvement of the Nanyuki-Naibor Turnoff-Doldol road.

The authority said reclaiming the road reserve will help facilitate the implementation of the planned works while protecting public infrastructure.

The exercise also seeks to ensure that road users can travel safely without obstruction from structures erected within the road reserve.

“The exercise underscores KeNHA’s commitment to protecting road reserves, facilitating smooth project implementation, and ensuring safe passage for all road users,” the authority said.

Affected traders and other occupants have been formally notified to clear their structures within the 30-day period.

KeNHA said the enforcement exercise is part of efforts to safeguard road reserves and prepare the corridor for development.
