KeNHA invites bids for Kandwia–Kyuso–Tseikuru road upgrade

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has invited contractors to bid for the strengthening and upgrading of the Kandwia–Kyuso and Kyuso–Tseikuru (B52) roads.

In a public notice dated December 23, 2025, KeNHA said the project will involve strengthening the Kandwia–Kyuso road and upgrading the Kyuso–Tseikuru section to bitumen standards. The project will be funded through government Development Votes.

“The Authority hereby invites bids from eligible contractors for the following tenders to be funded through the Development Votes,” KeNHA said.

Interested bidders are required to submit their documents at the Kenya National Highways Authority headquarters at Barabara Plaza, near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, off Mazao Road, Block C, 2nd Floor Board Room.

A pre-tender site visit has been scheduled for January 15, 2026, at Kandwia Shopping Centre. KeNHA said the visit will give bidders an opportunity to understand the scope and conditions of the project.

The tender will close on February 5, 2026, at 11am.

Tender documents can be obtained from the KeNHA website at www.kenha.co.ke, the Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP) at www.tenders.go.ke, or from KeNHA’s Supply Chain Management Department during normal working hours. Interested bidders must pay a non-refundable fee of Sh1,000 through a banker’s cheque payable to the Kenya National Highways Authority.

KeNHA encouraged bidders to download the tender documents online to reduce physical visits to its offices.

The authority also advised bidders to regularly check the KeNHA website and the PPIP portal for any updates, addenda or clarifications before the submission deadline.

The Kandwia–Kyuso–Tseikuru road project has in the past attracted political attention, with public exchanges between President William Ruto and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka over the status of the road.

President Ruto previously criticised Kalonzo for failing to tarmac the road leading to his home area, while Kalonzo responded by saying efforts to upgrade the road were made but were frustrated.
