The Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) has announced new job openings for professors and associate professors across several academic departments.

In a public notice dated Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the institution said it is seeking experienced scholars to provide academic and research leadership to students enrolled in its degree programmes.

According to the notice, successful candidates will be expected to inspire and nurture talent, support innovation, and work closely with industry partners to advance research and knowledge.

The vacant positions are available in the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, ICT Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Agricultural Biotechnology.

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field from a recognized and accredited university. Candidates for professorship positions are required to have at least five years of teaching experience as an Associate Professor or nine years of research experience at an equivalent level.

They should also have a strong publication record, including at least 60 academic publications since attaining Associate Professor level, with at least 40 of these appearing in peer-reviewed journals. The applicants must also have supervised at least 10 doctoral students and five master’s students to completion. Evidence of registered patents and commercialized innovations will be considered an added advantage.

Other requirements include membership in a relevant professional body where applicable, demonstrable knowledge of modern information and communication technologies, and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

Interested candidates are required to submit their application documents, including a teaching philosophy statement, curriculum vitae, names and contacts of two professional referees, copies of academic and professional certificates, and a national identity card or passport. Applications should be sent electronically to we-are-hiring@kenya-aist.ac.ke.

Those selected will also be required to provide clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Applications must be submitted on or before December 4, 2025.
