Kibera Residents were on Thursday morning woke up to chaos as the Kenya Railway Company tried to evict those living near the railway line.

Police lobbed teargas canisters in the wee hours of the morning waking up residents who say that the plan was to relocate them not demolish their homes.

“What is happening is a surprise and inhumane… If there is a handshake that happened, Raila Odinga should know very well what to do over this issue,” a resident said.

The exercise that kicked off at 4 a.m saw at least 1,000 people left homeless.
