Kirinyaga county has reportedly distributed thousands of condoms ahead of the sixth Devolution Conference where over 2,000 delegates are expected to attend.

According to reports in local media outlets, over 100, 000 condoms have been distributed free of charge at local entertainment joints including bars, restaurants and hotels within Kirinyaga town.

The county Governor Anne Waiguru is said to be leading a team of health officers in the distribution exercise.

According to one of the officers involved in the operation, the free distribution is aimed at advocating for save sex.

“This is normal practice by health agencies when we expect many visitors to a place. You cannot stop adults from having fun. But you can assist in advocating for safe sex,” the officer divulged.

The Devolution Conference which kicks off on Monday 4th and run up to Friday 8th, is aimed at engaging Kenyans to reflect on the devolution milestones over the last five years and chart a way forward on how to make devolution successful.
