KJ Apa was born Keneti James Fitzgerald Apa on June 17, 1997, in Auckland, New Zealand. He grew up in a multicultural household with his European New Zealander mother, Tessa, and Samoan father, Tupa’i Keneti Apa, who serves as chief of his village.
