The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will train college tutors in April 2026 to mark Teacher Education assessments and assess practicum.

In a public notice issued Tuesday, February 17, 2026, KNEC said shortlisted applicants will pay a training fee of Sh10,500. Payment will only be made after applicants receive notification through a text message (SMS) and the application portal.

College tutors deployed from secondary schools and those handling special needs trainees, including Braille and hearing-impaired learners, are highly encouraged to apply.

The training will combine online learning and residential sessions.

“Access to the online training material, dates and the venue for the residential training will be communicated to the shortlisted trainees at a later date,” the notice reads.

After the training, KNEC will engage qualified examiners based on recruitment criteria and staffing needs for each paper. Tutors already trained as DSTE, DPTE or DECTE assessors and listed in the KNEC database of examiners are not required to apply.

Applicants must be practising tutors or lecturers in relevant subject areas at Teacher Training Colleges, universities or TVET institutions. They must be registered and employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), hold a degree in education or higher, and have at least two years of teacher training experience.

Applicants must not be under interdiction or disciplinary action by the TSC, must be recommended by their head of institution, and must be below 55 years of age.

Applicants with CP2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords. Those who have forgotten their passwords can reset them using their mobile number in the format 2547********. New users should create an account, complete their personal profile and then select “Apply for training” on the dashboard to view and choose available vacancies.
