A narrow majority of Kenyans now believe the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new opinion poll by Politrack Africa.

The Kenya 2027 Presidential Preference Brief, released on October 1, shows that 45.2 per cent of respondents believe the country is headed in the right direction.

A closely matching 44.6 per cent said Kenya is heading in the wrong direction, while 10.2 per cent were unsure.

The survey was conducted between September 15 and 25, 2026.

The findings mark a shift from recent opinion surveys that have consistently shown a majority of Kenyans expressing the view that the country was moving in the wrong direction.

According to Politrack Africa, roads and housing emerged as the best-performing areas of the William Ruto administration, receiving a 16.3 per cent rating from respondents.

Health services, including the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and Social Health Authority (SHA), followed with 13 per cent.

Agriculture ranked third with 10 per cent.

Other sectors assessed in the survey each received less than five per cent support.

The findings come amid continued public debate over the performance of the Kenya Kwanza administration and its progress in delivering on its election promises.

The survey also places President William Ruto ahead of his potential challengers in the 2027 presidential race.

Ruto was identified as the most preferred presidential candidate, while his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) emerged as the most supported political party nationally.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) ranked second in party preference, overtaking the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
