    Malcolm Smith was born on July 5, 1989, in Woodland Hills, United States.

    He attended William Howard Taft Charter High School, where he played football as both a linebacker and running back. Despite missing the first half of his senior season due to a leg injury, Smith still delivered an impressive performance.

    As a senior he recorded:

    • 31 tackles
    • 10 sacks
    • Four fumble recoveries

    Offensively, he rushed for 919 yards on 118 carries and scored 15 touchdowns.

    Smith comes from a football family. His brother, Steve Smith, also played college football at University of Southern California before moving on to the NFL.

    College Football Career

    Smith went on to play college football for the USC Trojans football.

    As a true freshman, he appeared in all 13 games as a backup linebacker and special teams contributor. Over time, he became an important part of the Trojans’ defensive unit.

    One of his most memorable performances came during the 2009 rivalry game between USC and UCLA Bruins football. Smith anchored the Trojan defense in a 28–7 victory, returning an interception 62 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

    NFL Career

    Smith entered the 2011 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 242nd overall pick in the seventh round.

    He developed into a reliable defensive player for the Seahawks and played a crucial role during the team’s successful postseason runs.

    One of the biggest moments of his career came during the 2013 NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers on January 19, 2014. In the closing moments of the game, Smith intercepted a pass in the end zone, securing the victory and sending the Seahawks to Super Bowl XLVIII.
